nature drawing nature - online seminar, 3 and 4 April 2025

2025-01-24

We invite contributions that explore the interconnectedness of humans and nature through the lens of drawing. Inspired by ideas of biodiversity preservation as gestures of hope and responsibility, and considering drawing as an ecological act, we seek papers that address drawing as both a creative and ethical practice.

Submissions are welcome in formats ranging from scholarly articles to visual essays. Deadline for seminar submissions: 5 of March.

Vol 5 No 2 (2024): Ubiquity: Shifting Memories

The concept of ubiquity invites us to consider the widespread presence of artistic interventions and urban phenomena—marking landscapes, evoking memories, and challenging spatial boundaries. This issue of the Black Book Drawing and Sketching Journal (BBDS) explores how art, design, and critical inquiry unfold across diverse settings, from post-war cities and contested urban spaces to the quiet persistence of structures like bicycle parks.
