The study of the visual image of the city has a high relevance in the field of urbanism and architecture, as it can help to identify important interrelationships between the external appearance of the city and its socio-cultural environment, as well as to influence the municipal planning and community activity. The aim of this work was to conduct a detailed study of the concept of visual image of the city, as well as different methods of its research. To study the concept and methods of research of visual image of the city, a complex methodology was developed. The results of the research revealed that the visual image of the city is a complex and rich phenomenon, which depends on different structural types, such as naturalistic, structuralist, constructivist and phenomenological. One of the key conclusions is that its formation occurs under the influence of a number of factors, such as architectural environment, social and economic conditions. It can be both internal, which reflects individual perception, and external. Municipal image can include both mysteriously meaningful and individual aspects, which makes it multifaceted and mobile. It is an integral part of the cultural and social landscape of the city, reflecting its architectural peculiarities and social and cultural processes. Understanding that the image of the city reflects not only its exterior appearance, but also social and cultural processes, can provide an opportunity to more effectively shape the urban environment that will meet the needs and preferences of residents and visitors.
